Create, edit or delete skills and knowledge
Skills are broad categories that organize knowledge thematically, such as: Technical, Leadership, Emotional Intelligence, etc. They represent the ability to apply knowledge, also encompassing acquired skills, attitudes and experiences.
Knowledge is specific skills within a skill. They correspond to the mastery of concepts and information. Each piece of knowledge can be classified into hierarchical levels:
Macro: main knowledge.
Micro: subordinate knowledge, which can be secondary (linked to a macro) or tertiary (linked to a micro).
Example:
Technical (skill)
Systems development (macro knowledge)
Back-end (micro knowledge)
Front-end (micro knowledge)
Integration API (macro knowledge)
RESTful (micro knowledge)
Authentication and authorization (micro knowledge)
When macro knowledge has linked micro knowledge, only the micro knowledge will be assessed by students in the self-assessment.
Example:
Systems development is macro knowledge, and its micro knowledge is Back-end and Front-end.
The self-assessment will only be carried out on the micro knowledge Back-end and Front-end.
Students can self-assess their knowledge at any time by accessing a specific menu in the student view. In addition, self-assessments can be configured in trainings, tracks or gamification campaigns, in three moments:
Before the start
After completion
Both before the start and after completion
Each piece of knowledge is evaluated on a 4-level scale, based on familiarity, application, and ability to transmit knowledge:
1 - I don't know
2 - I know the concept
3 - I know and practice
4 - I know, practice, and teach
The scores (“Don't know”, “Know a little”, “Know", "Know a lot”) can be customized according to the organization's needs. To request a change, open a support ticket.

Knowledge
We recommend registering all knowledge before making hierarchical links.
Create

Click on Knowledge in the main menu
Click on the To List submenu
Click on the + Create Knowledge button in the top right-hand corner
Fill in the necessary fields, as instructed below:

Description (mandatory) | Enter a brief summary of the knowledge. |
Competence (mandatory) | Select an already registered skill or create a new one. To register a new skill, follow the steps below:
|
Micro knowledge | Select the subordinate knowledge, if they have already been registered. If they are not yet registered, you can link them later. Each micro knowledge can only be linked once and will only appear in the list if it is not already linked. |
Macro knowledge | Select Yes if this is a macro (main) knowledge, or No if this is a micro (secondary or tertiary) knowledge. If Yes is selected, it will be identified as Macro in the Type column of the list of registered knowledge, representing that it is a primary knowledge. If No is selected, it will be identified as Micro in the Type column of the list of registered knowledge, representing that it is a secondary or tertiary knowledge. |
Activation (mandatory) | Select the Enabled option to make the knowledge immediately available for self-assessment, or Disabled if you don't want to make it accessible yet. We recommend activating knowledge after hierarchical links. |

Link the knowledge
After registering the knowledge, establish the hierarchical links between them.
All the knowledge in a hierarchy have been registered:
Knowledge 1
Knowledge 1.1
Knowledge 1.1.1
Knowledge 1.1.2
Knowledge 1.2
You now need to link the secondary knowledge (Knowledge 1.1, Knowledge 1.2 and Knowledge 1.3) to the main knowledge (Knowledge 1), and the tertiary knowledge (Knowledge 1.1.1 and Knowledge 1.1.2) to the secondary knowledge (Knowledge 1.1).
To link secondary knowledge to the main one, follow the steps below:
Click on Knowledge in the main menu
Click on the To List submenu
Locate the desired primary knowledge
Click on the Select option
Click on the To Change option in the list
In the Micro knowledge field, select the secondary knowledge to be linked
When registering Knowledge 1 (main), you must select the knowledge Knowledge 1.1 and Knowledge 1.2 (secondary) in the field.
Each micro knowledge can only be linked once and will only appear in the list if it is not already linked.
Click Save to change the knowledge’s registration
Repeat this step by step for all macro (main) knowledge .
To link tertiary knowledge to secondary knowledge, follow the steps below:
Click on Knowledge in the main menu
Click on the To List submenu
Locate the desired secondary knowledge
Click on the Select option
Click on the To Change option in the list
In the Micro knowledge field, select the tertiary knowledge to be linked
When registering Knowledge 1.1 (secondary), you must select the knowledge Knowledge 1.1.1 and Knowledge 1.1.2 (tertiary) in the field.
Each micro knowledge can only be linked once and will only appear in the list if it is not already linked.
Click Save to change the knowledge’s registration
Repeat this step for all micro (secondary) knowledge.
View the knowledge graph
After registering all the knowledge and making the links, analyze whether the knowledge are in the correct hierarchy, as instructed below:
Click on Knowledge in the main menu
Click on the To List submenu
Click on the Graph button icon (second icon) located in the top right corner
Check that the hierarchy of knowledge (activated and deactivated) is already properly configured as desired
If the knowledge are not in the desired hierarchy, adjust the links as instructed in Step 2.
If the knowledge are in the desired hierarchy but out of order, sort them as instructed in Step 4.
Sort the knowledge
To sort the macro knowledge (main), follow the steps below:
Click on Knowledge in the main menu
Click on the To List submenu
Click on the Sort knowledge button icon (second icon) located in the top right corner
Drag the knowledge to reorder
To sort the micro knowledge (secondary or tertiary), follow the steps below:
Click on Knowledge in the main menu
Click on the To List submenu
Locate the main or secondary knowledge you want
Click on the Select option
Click on the To Sort option in the list
Drag the knowledge to reorder them
After registering, linking, sorting and activating knowledge, students can carry out self-assessments directly on the platform at any time.
Enable the My knowledge section, as instructed at Configure account, so that students can access the My Knowledge menu and carry out self-assessment at any time.
To set up self-assessments before and/or after a training, track or gamification campaign:

In the Self-assessment field, define when the self-assessment should be carried out by the student, at your discretion:
- Before the start
- After completion
- Both before the start and after completion
For more information on the field, access the specific documentation:
To follow the progress of students in the knowledge, go to Generate knowledge indicators.
Edit or delete
To edit the registration or delete a knowledge, locate it in the list, click on the Select option, click on the To Change option and on the screen that opens:
To edit, change the desired fields and click Save.
To delete, click on the đź—‘ icon in the upper right corner.
Important notes on deletion:
